What a Time to be Alive
into the world of VR
Together with a diverse group of creative students, VR artist Iris van der Meule and STRP, we have teamed up to create and exhibit our own digital artwork.
What a Time to be Alive is a virtual reality experience that takes you through the feeling of climate doom. Climate doom is a phenomenon a lot of young people experience, where they lose hope of ever saving the climate. This can lead to a decrease of effort protecting it (or even causing more harm), since the world seems to be ‘fucked anyway’. That is why it is so important to air up about the subject and maybe even spark new ways of thinking.

The exhibition
During the exhibition, every visitor gets the chance to step into our VR experience. While holding earth in your hands, you travel through a colourful 3D world. Exploring a doom-like state and beyond.
Since our goal was to open up about our feelings surrounding climate change, we created an additional board game and a climate related confession booth to get the conversation flowing.

Art direction
During the programme I was a co-creator of the artwork and art director of the team. My main task was to design the branding, poster design, stickers, shirts, banners and making sure all elements are coherent and fitting.
